Morocco will launch a tender later this year to build a floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Nador West Med port in the northeast of the country, Morocco’s energy ministry said Friday, according to Reuters.
The LNG terminal will connect to an existing pipeline that imports 0.5 billion cubic meters (bcm) of LNG per year from Spanish terminals. Morocco projects a sharp increase in its annual demand for natural gas from its current 1 bcm to 8 bcm in 2027.
