Morocco welcomed 8.9 million tourists in the first half of 2025, a 19% year-on-year increase, according to Morocco World News citing a government statement. The Tourism Ministry said the figure represents 1.4 million more arrivals than during the same period in 2024, reinforcing Morocco’s status as Africa’s most-visited destination.

June alone saw 1.7 million visitors, an 11% rise over last year and the highest monthly total on record. Officials credited the growth to sustained investment in air connectivity, accommodation, and entertainment infrastructure. Minister of Tourism Fatim-Zahra Ammor called the results proof of Morocco’s growing appeal and signaled continued focus on expanding capacity for high-demand summer months.

Morocco attracted 17.4 million visitors in 2024, a 20% increase over the previous year, surpassing Egypt in total arrivals. The country averages $3.5 billion in annual foreign direct investment across sectors, according to UN Tourism, with tourism driving a large share of recent growth.
