Morocco’s diaspora remittances reached $2.73 billion at the end of March, a slight decrease compared to the same period last year. According to the country’s central bank, Bank Al Maghrib, remittances from Moroccans abroad along with tourism, foreign investments, and exports highly contribute to Morocco’s economy. King Mohammed VI has called on the government to improve the business climate for MREs stating in 2022: “I call once again on Moroccan youth and on project holders residing abroad to make the most of the numerous investment opportunities in Morocco, as well as the incentives and guarantees offered by the new investment charter.”
