Morocco’s King Mohammed VI reiterated his commitment to fostering good relations with Algeria in a speech marking his 26th anniversary on the throne. "Morocco is open to sincere dialogue with Algeria," he said, calling Algerians a "sibling nation." Ties have been strained over Morocco’s administration of the disputed Sahara region, prompting Algeria to cut diplomatic relations in 2021. Last month, Britain endorsed Morocco’s autonomy plan for the territory, shifting from its previous support for self-determination.
