It is the first time the international music festival - second major world music festival - is taking place again since the Covid-19 outbreak. However, some fans are suggesting that "the timing is insensitive due to the ongoing war in Gaza". Others are also saying that the money for the concerts -which is fully funded and sponsored by moroccan private companies - could be better spent on victims of the earthquake with some students promoting a boycott Mawazine campaign on social media : "A year after the September earthquake, a music festival should not be our priority."
