Morocco’s telecoms regulator invites bids for 5G network

Moroccan telecoms regulator (ANRT) has invited bids for licenses to roll out and operate 5G network services, it said on Friday, according to Reuters. The Moroccan government plans to make 5G available to 25% of the population by 2026 and 70% by 2030, the year it will co-host the World Cup with Spain and Portugal. 5G offers faster data speeds and the ability to handle real-time communications making it an important component for the expansion of several sectors, including industry, transport, healthcare, and agriculture, ANRT noted.
