Morocco’s vegetable exports surge – defying revenue expectations

A report by EasyFruit highlighted Morocco’s fresh vegetable exports defied expectations in 2023, with export earnings increasing by 12% to nearly $1.6 billion, exceeding the five-year average by almost 50%. According to the report this growth came about despite a 14% decline in export volume to 1.06 million tons, on account of last year’s severe summer weather. Greenhouse tomatoes continued to remain the number one export, generating almost $1.2 billion in revenue and accounting for three-quarters of total vegetable export value. Morocco remains the world’s third-largest fresh tomato exporter.
