Italian court upholds migration funding to IOM for Libya crisis
Italy's Lazio regional court upheld a 2019 government decision to allocate 2 million euros ($2.1 million) from
Egyptian rights activist Hossam Bahgat was released Sunday after posting bail, AFP reports citing a statement from the rights group which Bahgat founded. He had been charged with “joining and financing a terrorist group” and publishing “fake news”. Amnesty International said Bahgat has faced years of state harassment in connection with his “legitimate human rights work”.
Rights groups highlight ongoing arrests despite Cairo’s pledges to improve its human rights record.
