Qatar to invest in Algeria’s first major supermarket chain

Qatar and Algeria have entered a strategic partnership to develop the country’s first fully integrated supermarket chain, with plans to open over 100 megastores within the next three years, according to International Supermarket News (ISN). It is set to rival the French owned chain Carrefour which currently operates across the Algerian market. Speaking to ISN a senior Qatari executive confirmed: “We have completed negotiations and are now in the final stages of planning. This project reflects a shared vision to create a modern, efficient retail structure that supports both consumers and producers.”
