Morocco’s BCIJ arrests woman linked to attempted ISIS terror plot
Morocco’s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) has arrested a 21-year-old female student suspected of planning a terrorist attack
The fatal shooting of a Tunisian man in southern France on Saturday has prompted condemnation from Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, who described the act as “intolerable” and indicated it may have been driven by racial hatred, according to Reuters.
The victim, a man in his 30s whose identity has not been made public, was reportedly killed by his 53-year-old neighbor in Puget-sur-Argens, located about 40 miles southwest of Nice.
According to prosecutors, the suspect had shared racist and hateful content on his social media accounts both before and after the shooting, fueling concerns that the murder was racially motivated.
This killing follows the murder of Aboubakar Cisse, a 22-year-old Malian man who was stabbed to death in a mosque in La Grand-Combe, another town in southern France, just a month earlier.
Racially motivated crimes appear to be on the rise in France. Official data released in March revealed an 11% increase in incidents classified as racist, xenophobic, or anti-religious in 2024.
Rights organizations have pointed fingers at Retailleau himself, accusing the minister—who is known for his right-wing views and hardline stance on immigration—of contributing to an environment of rising racial tension.
