Secret meeting between top Israeli and Egyptian officials discuss possible Rafah invasion

According to U.S. news outlet Axios senior Israeli intelligence and military officials met Wednesday in Cairo with Egypt's intelligence chief and other key officials to discuss a possible Israel Defense Forces operation in Rafah. Any operation in the southern Gaza city would lead to tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians entering Egypt, via a mass crossing at the border that would endanger its security. Senior Egyptian officials have said in public and in closed talks with Israel that such a situation would lead to a breakdown in relations with Israel and could even place the peace agreement between the countries in peril.
