French agri-food exports to Algeria have sharply declined, posing significant challenges for trade relations between the two nations. Recent reports indicate a substantial contraction in trade volumes, with exports plummeting from €1.3 billion in 2022 to just €628 million in 2023. The decline has been particularly pronounced in key sectors such as cereals, livestock, and dairy products. According to L'Opinion, in 2018, France met nearly 90% of Algeria's cereal needs with exports totaling 5.4 million tonnes. By 2023, this amount had decreased to 608,000 tonnes.
