South Korea’s Naver is partnering with Nvidia and Nexus to build a 500MW AI data center in Morocco, according to regional media. The facility will provide Europe, the Middle East, and Africa with sovereign cloud services. The first 40MW phase, using Nvidia’s GB200 chips, will begin later this year. While touted as a strategic expansion, the project raises fresh concerns about data centers’ soaring energy use and environmental cost.
