An unusually heavy rainstorm hit the Egyptian city of Alexandria on Saturday, flooding roads and damaging seafront businesses in what has been described as the latest ‘erratic weather to hit the region’, according to reporting by AFP. Hailstones battered the city overnight, forcing people to flee cafes as the wind blew ice pellets through windows. Emergency crews worked through the morning to tow cars and clear debris. No casualties were reported, Egypt's health ministry said.
