Mother of jailed Egyptian activist ends hunger strike
Laila Soueif, the mother of jailed Egyptian-British activist Alaa Abdel Fattah, has ended her 10-month hunger strike, her family told
Speaking in an address to the nation on the 80th anniversary of the May 8, 1945 massacres committed by French authorities, President Tebboune renewed Algeria’s position on addressing the archives, a longstanding source of tension with Paris, stating: “the memory file will not be subject to forgetfulness or denial.”This year’s commemoration comes amid ongoing tensions in Algerian French relations, with recent reciprocal ambassador withdrawals and diplomatic expulsions.
