Mauritania shut down nearly 150 migrant smuggling networks in 2024, with dozens more disrupted in just the first few months
Three protesters died in detention in Mauritania following mass arrests during demonstrations in Kaédi, an opposition stronghold, after the country's presidential election outcome, the interior ministry announced.
Officials reported that the protests turned violent in the southern town near the Senegalese border late Monday, leading security forces to intervene and confront the demonstrators.
The Ministry did not give further details on their cause of death but said an investigation would be carried out.
