Algeria mulls changes to mining rules to attract foreign investment
Algeria’s parliament is preparing to vote on legislation that would ease restrictions on foreign ownership in the mining sector,
Tunisia, in coordination with the International Organization for Migration, facilitated the voluntary return of 379 undocumented migrants to West Africa this week, Xinhua reports. The effort—part of IOM’s Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration programme—saw migrants repatriated to Gambia, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, and Sierra Leone. Over 3,500 have returned through the scheme in 2025, amid rising departures from Tunisia toward Europe.
