Tunisia aims to boost forest cover to 16%

Tunisia plans to increase its forest cover from 12% to 16% of national land area, the Ministry of Agriculture announced, according to TAP. Currently at 8.5%, forests span 1.2 million hectares and support up to a million people. Officials highlighted the sector’s economic and ecological value and noted a national forestry strategy is in development to enhance sustainability through 2050.
