A Tunisian appeals court has sentenced lawyer and media figure Sonia Dahmani to eight months in prison for remarks deemed critical of President Kais Saied, her lawyer said Wednesday. Dahmani, 56, was arrested on May 11 after masked police raided Tunisia's bar association, where she had sought refuge following her television comments. Initially sentenced to one year in prison on July 6, she appealed the decision.
