The Tunisian government has decided to withdraw individuals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with observer status before the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights the ability to bring cases against Tunisia. Human Rights Watch (HRW) described the withdrawal as part of President Saied’s ongoing efforts to “systematically erode fundamental democratic safeguards.” HRW went on to say that the African Court has been at the forefront of exposing and condemning human rights issues across the continent as well as providing several rulings against Tunisia.
