Egyptian-UK activist on hunger strike, now ill in prison
AFP reports that British Egyptian activist Alaa Abdel Fattah has become sick after spending more than 50 days on hunger
Tunisian President Kais Saied sacked Prime Minister Kamel Maddouri, who served less than a year, his office said on Friday. The decision comes as Tunisia faces challenges major economic challenges from increasing migration and refugee flows from sub-Saharan Africa. Saied announced the appointment of Sara Zaafarani, previously Minister of Equipment and Housing since 2021 and a technocrat, as the new Prime Minister. Zaafrani, 62, becomes Tunisia's second woman premier.
