Two billion euros in aid pledged at Sudan conference in Paris

World donors committed over $2.1 billion in humanitarian aid to Sudan at a Paris conference, French President Emmanuel Macron said Monday.

After a year of conflict, Sudan faces a severe famine risk.  The funds aim to supply food, water, medicines, and other essentials, Macron noted, without specifying a timeline.

The meeting, attended by top diplomats, UN officials, and aid groups, called for an immediate ceasefire and humanitarian access in Sudan.

Although Sudan's civil society members attended, its military and paramilitary groups did not. The conference highlighted the urgent need for international mediation to restore peace.
