U.S. considering expanding travel ban list, could include Egypt

Reports by the Washington Post and Reuters suggests that both Egypt and Syria could be added to an expanded U.S. travel ban list. Quoting an internal U.S. State Department cable, sent over the weekend to U.S. diplomatic missions: “The department has identified 36 countries of concern that might be recommended for full or partial suspension of entry if they do not meet established benchmarks and requirements within 60 days.” A list of 12 countries banned from travel to the U.S. was issued on June 5.
