In a meeting between U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, the Secretary and Foreign Minister, according to a press release issued by the State Department, “discussed, efforts to advance regional and global peace and to further strengthen the U.S.-Morocco partnership”. The U.S. Secretary of State also highlighted his “appreciation for King Mohamed VI’s crucial voice in advancing a more peaceful and secure Middle East region”. It comes at a time when the U.S. has praised Morocco’s leadership in responding to humanitarian needs in Gaza, especially a series of recent airlifts and ground transportation of supplies, and the efforts to support the stabilization in the West Bank and assisting with “the revitalization of the Palestinian Authority”. The Secretary also welcomed Morocco’s ongoing efforts to end the political stalemate in Libya and address instability in the Sahel.
