UN-IPC Report: 37% of Sudan’s population facing acute food insecurity

According to the UN backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), a global authority on food security, an analysis between October 2023 and February 2024, revealed a staggering 17.7 million people in Sudan (or 37% of the population) faced high levels of acute food insecurity (IPC Phase 3 or above), with 4.9 million (10%) in the Emergency phase (IPC Phase 4). Due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan, security threats, roadblocks and protection concerns limit both the humanitarian response and assessments.
