Anti-Israeli demonstration in Tunis

A mob set fire to the courtyard of a synagogue in the southeastern city of Sfax in Tunisia Sunday, according to local media reports cited by the Israeli news website I24. Local firefighters were able to contain the blaze before it spread to the main structure, although the building’s windows were damaged.

Antisemitic attacks are on the rise in Tunisia and across the region in the wake of the war in Gaza, I24 added. The website noted that the Jewish population in Tunisia has fallen to around a 1,000 from a peak of 100,000 in 1948.
