Russia Aims to Boost Dairy Exports to North Africa and the Middle East

Russia is poised to expand its share in the international dairy market, targeting a 15-20% annual increase in exports, with a focus on Arab nations such as Algeria and Southeast Asia, according to Artem Belov, head of the industry group Soyuzmoloko. Currently, Russia's dairy exports amount to $400 million annually—just 1% of the over $40 billion global market. Despite ceasing the publication of dairy export data this year, figures from 2023 reveal a significant rise in whey and milk powder exports. Russia is shifting its dairy trade focus from traditional markets like Kazakhstan, Belarus, and China to new regions, moving away from its usual European trading partners.
