US Threatens UN Security Council Action for Cross-Border Aid in Sudan Amid Access Blockade

The US warned on Thursday that it would push the UN Security Council to take action to get aid to starving people in Sudan by authorising cross-border deliveries from Chad, should the Sudanese armed forces not restore full access.

Ahead of the one-year anniversary of the conflict, US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said the Sudanese warring parties had both disrupted aid efforts and ignored a Security Council call for an immediate ceasefire.
