Western Sahara: UK officially supports Morocco's autonomy plan as "the most credible, viable and pragmatic basis"

The UK has announced that they fully support Morocco’s autonomy plan for Western Sahara calling it the ‘most credible, viable and pragmatic basis’ to resolve the dispute. The news came during the 4th Morocco-UK Joint Strategic Dialogue held in Rabat, co-chaired by Moroccan foreign minister Nasser Bourita and UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy. Bourita described the meeting as “a historic day for Morocco-UK relations,” while Lammy called the shift “long overdue,” adding that “a just, lasting, and mutually acceptable solution” to the conflict must be reached. Local media also reported that the UK and Morocco expressed “their unwavering support for the UN-led process as essential,” reiterating their “full support for the efforts of the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Staffan de Mistura.”
