The World Bank and the German government have entered into a funding agreement with Mauritania and Chad for a total of $137 million that will create the Regional Engagement for Learning and Collaboration in Education (RELANCE) Project. This new initiative aims to transform education systems in both countries, and according to Ousmane Diagana, World Bank Vice President for Western and Central Africa, maintains the “commitment to making education a transformative force in Mauritania and Chad, by training informed, empowered generations ready to take on the challenges of tomorrow." It will target more than 850,000 young people, the World Bank reports.
