WTO: Strong growth in Morocco’s economy post pandemic, but challenges remain

The World Trade Organization believes Morocco has bounced back steadily after the pandemic mainly due to a strong rebound in exports, particularly manufactured goods like chemicals and vehicles. According to the WTO, GDP per capita has increased, reaching $3,570 in 2022, despite a major recession in 2020. However, some challenges remain: debt has risen significantly, reaching nearly 70% of GDP in 2022, plus there are some complications for investors particularly in the tax system around investment in infrastructure. The report went on to say that Morocco is a global player in the phosphates and derivatives industry.
