Libya’s attorney general announced the detention of three suspects accused of storming the Tripoli headquarters of the National Oil
Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita welcomed Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty to Rabat on Wednesday for a strategic meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, according to Moroccan media.
“This relationship has a long-standing history, solid foundations, and is nurtured with special attention from His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his brother, His Excellency President El Sisi,” Bourita stated during a press conference.
A key outcome of the meeting was the announcement of a new High Joint Committee, to be led by the prime ministers of both nations. The committee will regularly convene to oversee and advance collaboration across multiple sectors.
Economic partnership topped the agenda. Bourita emphasized a shift away from competition toward a model of mutual gain, leveraging the strategic geographic positions of both countries to boost shared prosperity.
Earlier this month, on May 4, 2025, Egypt and Morocco launched the Egypt-Morocco Investment and Trade Forum in Cairo. The initiative aims to deepen economic ties, with a specific goal of increasing Moroccan exports to Egypt fivefold over the next three years as part of efforts to address trade imbalances.
