According to Bloomberg news, Egypt’s gas shortfall will shake up sleepy markets as the north African country may find itself in the next few months in a scramble for cargoes as demand recovers across the world.
Typically, an exporter of the fuel, Egypt’s gas output has shrunk to the lowest level in years, something the government has linked to a natural decline at its fields.
The country also partially depends on piped supplies from Israel, which are being closely watched as the war with Hamas rages.
