Libya beats Nigeria to become Africa’s top oil producer in March

Libya was Africa’s number one oil producer in March edging out Nigeria. The country’s output hit 1.24 million barrels of oil per day (bpd). That marks a 5.4% increase from a month earlier. 

Libya hit the top spot after a decrease in production from Nigeria. According to OPEC, output in Nigeria fell to 1.23 million bpd in March. That’s a decline of 6.8%

Libya’s oil output increase aligns with the country’s aim of boosting production by year’s end through a variety of strategies.
